HERINGTON - Verna M. Schultz-Page, 86, died Friday, January 3rd, 2020, at her daughter’s home in White City, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on September 16, 1933, on a farm near Lincolnville, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Maxwell) Travelute.
Verna is best described as meek and fun-loving. She enjoyed working in the yard, camping and traveling with her children. She would walk and attend church every day. She took all ten of her grandchildren on special vacations when they became teenagers. It pleased her when everyone came home for the holidays and she would be filled with joy. She loved to sew, making outfits and quillows, and cook for all her family. She would decorate for every occasion and entertain her family and friends.
Verna was secretary for the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, and very active in her church. She retired in 2003 from Central National Bank, Herington; and was secretary & bookkeeper for Ford & Mercury Dealership, Herington, for many years prior to working at the bank. She was active in the community and held various offices for organizations. Verna graduated from Lincolnville High School with the class of 1951.
Married Clarence Schultz on May 5, 1952, he preceded in death 1990; some time later she married Philip Page, he preceded in death in 2009. She is also preceded in death by a brother Johnny Travelute; and her parents.
Survived by two (2) sons: Ken Schultz (wife-Jan) of Alva, OK, and Kelly Schultz (wife-Kim) of Follett, TX; daughter Karla Fiest (husband-Bobby) of White City; step-son Merl Page (wife-Brenda) of Wamego; two (2) step-daughters: Brenda Packard (husband-Lloyd) of Wamego, and Lori Willyard (late husband, Harry) of Manhattan. Also, survived by two (2) brothers: Roy Travelute (wife-Regina ) of Manchester, and Jim Travelute (wife-Cynthia ) of Corsicana, TX; a sister Sally Urbanek of Vassar; a half-brother James Brown of Holcomb; and 10 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington, with Fr. Peter O’Donnell officiating; burial will follow at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Rosary with be held at 6:00pm Monday at the YMZ Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, followed by visitation for family and friends Monday until 8:00pm.
