Mark's life began on July 13, 1963, in Litchfield, MN. He was the son of Joseph John Nistler, Sr. and Rose Mae (Stein) Nistler. He is a graduate of Kimball Area High School in Kimball, MN. Mark served his country in the United States Army for 20 years and 29 days, retiring as a Sergeant First Class with the 1st Battalion, 409th Regiment spending much of his service as an M1 Armor Tank Commander. He worked for the Foot Locker Co. for the past 19 years. Mark married the love of his life, Kyra on December 1, 1990, in Colorado Springs, CO. They then had two daughters whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed home improvement projects and could fix anything. He also never turned down the opportunity to sit around a fire on the back patio with family and friends. Mark was a playful kid at heart and his grandchildren were his world. He was an excellent cook, deer processor and renowned jerky maker. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mark's greatest joy was his family.
Mark is survived by his wife Kyra Nistler of Herington; daughters Shelly Steenbock of Manhattan and Sarah ( Matt) Dietrick of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren Emerson Nistler, Hudson Albano, Henley Steenbock and Heidi Steenbock; his parents Joseph and Rose Mae Nistler; his siblings Joseph (Patty) Nistler, Jr, John (Pamela) Nistler, Laura (Mike) Lincoln, Jim (Kay) Nistler, Nancy Nistler, Shorty (Lori) Nistler, Linda (Alan) Siebens, Lisa (Allen) Babcock, Peter (Shelly) Nistler, Rose ( Dennis) Alexander and Roger Nistler; a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his trusty puppy Shelby. Mark passed away on February 8, 2020, at the Herington Hospital. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, February 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church led by Reverend Bill Neuman. Military honors will follow the service at the church. Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.
