Irma Joan Cauley, 84, of Wilsey, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Morris County Hospital.
She was born November 24, 1933, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Harold and Dollie (Propeck) Clark.
She married Vance Matthews on March 7, 1952. Together they had five sons. Vance preceded her in death in 1997.
Irma enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved fishing for golden-eye walleye at the family cabin at Lake of the Woods Minnesota. She is considered to be a world class cook on a wood-stove. Irma also enjoyed attending grandchildren's activities and attending many different types of motorsport events. She also loved cooking and experimenting with different new recipes. Irma worked as a nurse and also for H & R Block throughout the years. She and Vance owned and operated the Council Grove Marina for 3 years in the mid 1980's. Irma was especially proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
Irma married Harry Don Cauley on October 31, 2007. She and Don enjoyed traveling in an RV, hunting and fishing, and spending time together. She also loved their dog Rounder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vance; sisters Donna Jean Clark and Shirley Benson; son Stanley Leon Matthews; grandson Joshua Matthews; and granddaughter Lacy Matthews with great grand daughter Hadley.
Irma is survived by her husband Don of the home; four sons: Danny Matthews and wife Shari of Council Grove, Larry Matthews and wife Michelle of Wichita, Doc Matthews and wife Janet of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Vince Matthews and wife Bobbi of Conway Springs; sisters Nancy Coutts of TN, and Marilyn Brannam, of WA. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren: Derrick Matthews of Council Grove, Megan (Lance) Carson, Darren Matthews, Drew (Courtney) Matthews, Chad (Kelc) Matthews all of Wichita, Eric (Bailey) Matthews of Conway Springs; step-grandchildren: Kim Ginter and Krissy Rstom; great-grandchildren: Macy, Lexi, Rylee and Camden Carson; Emree and Brynlee Matthews; Hunter, Cooper, Parker and Shelby Matthews; step-great-grandchildren: Kayden Lankford; Dannika Grant, Mazie and Tucker Ginter; and Alijah Chambers.
Irma wished to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Wilsey Cemetery.
