Brad Horton

October 13, 1956 ~ January 11, 2019 (age 62)

Bradley “Brad” Steven Horton, age 62, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019. 

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Council Grove/Dunlap United Methodist Church.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00am, also at the United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brad Horton Memorial Fund, which will go towards helping boys and girls youth play sports. Contributions may be sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.

He was born on October 13, 1956 to Don and Alberta (Bert) Horton of Council Grove.

Brad married Gail (Patterson) Horton on April 15, 1977 and had five sons, Kyle, Cory, Casey, Kenley, and Colby. He was a devoted husband and father and dedicated his time and energy to his family in all aspects of their lives.

He was a graduate of Council Grove High School. He worked at Bosch Furniture through high school and later purchased the business after attending Manhattan Technical School. He continued to run the business until his passing.

Brad was active in the community as a baseball coach, an announcer for the high school girls’ softball team, a volunteer as a high school mentor, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served as president. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, helping others, and telling jokes.  He was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Don Horton, and sister, Renita Rothé.

Brad is survived by his mother, Bert Horton; sisters, Cheryl Connell and Roxanne Wooden; wife, Gail Horton; sons, Kyle Horton, Cory Horton, Casey Horton, Kenley Horton, Colby Horton; and 7 grandchildren.
